Salem City Schools has developed an elementary grading system that will give information on progress toward grade level goals.  The grading system is intended to show if a student has an area of concern in a topic area, is emerging in a topic area, or is demonstrating mastery in a topic area.

EXPLANATION OF GRADES

 

M-   Meeting Grade Level Standards: 

        Met- I can do this on my own without help. I can show that I understand.  I have mastered the topic presented.

​

E-    Emerging Grade Level Standards:

        Emerging- I can do this with help. I am developing understanding and I might make a mistake.

​

N-    Needs improvement / Experiencing Difficulty Meeting Grade Level Standards:

        Needs  Improvement- I don’t completely understand this yet. I am confused and need more help to learn this.
